Had a check through my credit card statements on-line. Although I keep a spreadsheet, that mirrors my account, I check on-line each week for anything unusual. Today I found five pending transactions for Tesco with a "nil" amount and one for £24.
I've not bought anything from Tescos for weeks.
So I contacted my card company, which their automated responses was indicating that their computer was "turning somersaults," trying to avoid putting me through to real person. But eventually it did.
The upshot was that after talking to a helpful woman, probably working from home in the foothills of the Himalayas, who eventually put my through to someone in England who could speak "proper English," the card has been cancelled and I'll get a new one in.......wait for it...seven days!
It's a bit of an inconvenience, as I'll have to use my debit card for a few days, or pay with cash. It will also mean that I'll have to change the card number, with those few companies I allow to store it, like Paypal, next time I want to buy something on-line.

Ordered a 3ft flocked Christmas tree from Grattan catalogue online.

When it came it wasn't flocked it was just a plain green tree. On the invoice it said flocked but on the outside of the box it said green. Now they charge £1.45 for standard delivery, so sent it back free returns. I had a 20% off offer so that covered the delivery charge and some left over.

Ordered another one and just the same so not going to do it again.

Found another company that has flocked Christmas trees but have to pay more delivery charge but the tree is a bit cheaper.

Too early for my brain to start thinking about Christmas!:smt018:D

Enjoyed a nice day and lunch out with my lovely hubs. We started going out 2/3 times a week for lunch about a year or so ago as we realised that staying at home, although together, jobs and chores also shared their time with us and we never truly focused on 'our own personal time' together.....just chatting and reminiscing together without the normal day to day distractions. At our time in life this time is so precious and we really look forward to sharing it together. Come rain or shine long may we continue to.:smt057

The down part of today was a task that I couldn't put off any longer as I had been emailed a few reminders to complete it. I signed up 5 years ago to take part in a national study on the changing capabilities ( or demise ) of our brains as we age and every year in October I have to complete some brain challenging games/ tests and answer lots of lifestyle questions.......It's one of those tasks that you have to be in the mood to do and be able to give it your full concentration. Yay:smt026:smt026 I finally gave myself a stern talking to and sat down quietly and completed it about an hour ago.:smt041:D

All in all a great day.:like:

I’m already over loaded just reading about @Logans X-mas tree issues and @Oreti daily testing challenges . Just thinking about brain decline gives me a headache. :dislike:

Nice to read you both have made good progress and accomplished everything on today’s to do lists. I’m just getting started. After cleaning out the pantry and setting things aside for baking for the holidays. While waiting for the heavy fog to lift to get back outside and trim more under story trees.

I played golf this morning and after lunch, I went to the local hospital for an MRI scan.
A couple of months ago, I had a urinary infection which was cleared up with a course of antibiotics. My doctor arranged the appointment, "to be on the safe side," (seeing as I'm 85). The earliest appointment I could get, was in five weeks! I had no further problems in the meantime and the scan today said everything was OK.

    That completed my, "Personal MOT."

In the past two weeks, I've had.

    Diabetes eye check. (no deterioration),

An annual diabetes check at the doctors, (no problems, no need to be seen again until next year).

Optician's eye test, (no need to have new glasses) I only use them to watch TV. I'm "street legal," to drive without them.

    Dental check-up. (no treatment required).

Ears syringed. (wax removed, hearing still good).

When I came home this afternoon and gave my wife the latest good news, she said. "I am glad you're cleared to carry on doing jobs around the house."

I was seventeen in 1958. when I bought my 1937 Austin 7 Ruby, convertible.

I clearly remember, petrol was 4/- (20p) a gallon and beer 2/- (10p) a pint (London prices). They kept that ratio for about 50 years.

Ok you two hollering about prices going up over our lifetime…. I want to holler too. When I first moved here the furnace oil was $00.35 cents a gallon now it’s $4.35 a gallon. Let’s talk a single loaf of bread… or a bottle of coke from those old floor model machines … or property tax.. I don’t even want to go there…

Hope to get an hour or two out in the garden today at some point :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:, but first this morning we have a ( just under 4 mile, there and back, ) walk to get our flu and ,and for hubs, Covid vaccinations. Then going over to visit my sister this afternoon. It's getting a tad hard to get enough daylight hours now to fit everything in !!!

So you will remember when you could put a, "Tuppenny-happeny" stamp on a letter and it would arrive the very next day anywhere in the UK.
    It's now £1.70.
