I mentioned the theme from "The High and the Mighty," a few posts back. I watched a documentary on Jeff Lynne of ELO last night.
In it he mentioned that when he was a child, his father took him to see the film and the tune inspired him to become a musician and write songs.

Never knew about this gifted artist til a few days ago until I ran across it on you tube. It’s so good to see young people enjoying this music. Been playing this on you tube ever since.

I've never been impressed much by "little girls with little voices."

To be honest, I much prefer Emelia Clarke's version, she sang in the film.

The film "Last Christmas" is on BBC iPlayer

This 45 arrived today, I bought on eBay for £3.99, including postage, for one of my jukeboxes.

It's in excellent condition, sounds as good as this..

I've recorded the record playing and put it on my YouTube channel.
Few people want vintage 45s unless they're rare and then they go for silly money.

Very nice DHR. Still have to add that quarter…cool watching the record select …what a nice running jukebox. The song sounds familiar…. ROXY - AVALON. Yes of course - English rock band. I remember them. :)

    Thanks for that.
It's actually set for the larger old 10ps and 50ps, of which I've a couple of dozen.
The manufacturers could set them to take the coins of any country to which they were sending jukeboxes.

You can also set individual jukeboxes to give you any number of plays for different coin denominations. This one also has internal credit buttons to add or subtract, selected plays or cancel all plays selected.
Here's some photos of the coin mechanism in one of my wall boxes. plays are added to the mechanical credit meter top left. They are pretty foolproof. Rejected coins end up in a little cup at the bottom of the left-hand side.
I'd removed the coin box before I took the photo, it sits at the bottom of the box.
You need a key to remove it and a different key to open the box.
Different coins hit different switches on that cream coloured bit, as they fall into the box, it adds a credit to the mechanical memory.

This photo is of the front of the mechanism open. necessary, in case a coin isn't rejected but because of its size, it's got stuck.

Very interesting explanation on how the system is designed to work. I always wondered how the selection system negotiated the correct selection.

Iv’e seen this same jukebox in movies and just recently an old tv series called ‘Columbo’. Which is streamed on line and also offered on TV on weekends. You have a very nice jukebox and collection of records . And .. not to mention they worth a small fortune. :smt023
