Zigs is it possible to open one of those cramp balls to see what’s inside. Just curious.

I asked Copilot what's inside Crampballs, so @Zigs won't have to cut one open.

Quote Copilot: "The inside of crampballs, also known as King Alfred's cakes or coal fungus, is hard and contains concentric rings of grey and black. The fruiting body is a hard, blackish sphere or cushion, 2–7 cm across, often attached to dead or dying hardwood. Inside, it reveals concentric rings, giving rise to its Latin name “concentrica.” It is extremely tough and does not decompose easily, often remaining on trees for years. "

    Clay, yes I do.

Zigs— from here they resemble moles to me. Haha. Anyway, thanks for your good work.
I hope you did not inhale spores and then next spring develop a colony on one of your ankels.
