My mother moved to an apartment, back in the early 70's, with 14' ceilings. So I bought her a 12' Christmas tree. Only trouble was, her apartment was on the third floor. You should've seen me and the Taxi driving trying to get that thing up three flights of stairs.

Got it up, decorated all pretty, went into the kitchen and heard a crash. The cat climbed up the back of it and down it went !! :smt044

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -2°C and snowing.
Its still so dark out at 7am and sunrise isn't until 7:42 this morning. Sunset is at 4:37 so we are getting close to our shortest days. After Dec 21, the days start getting longer again, and I can't wait! It snowed all night and is supposed to continue until tomorrow.
Canning again today, as I have to re-process a few jars that didn't seal the first time. Then I'll have to go out and walk the dog and probably plow the driveway and bring in firewood. Thats my exercise for the day. Plus I did a workout this morning. So hard to stay in shape this time of year!
I'll probably do some online shopping today too.
Have a great day all :)

Oh, Netty, keep warm! I won't complain about our 30 degrees last night.
We got our Christmas tree yesterday, and it is in the stand and waiting to be decorated. Gosh, I love this time of year!
Timi the cat thinks we brought in a new watering hole for her. She dips a paw in the tree stand reservoir and licks the water off. So much tastier than that distilled water we put in her bowl!
The annual Christmas goody plates run has begun. We delivered one yesterday, and still have a few to go. I love the squeals of joy and the thank-yous. I'm such an egoist!
Be happy and enjoy the season!

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -16°C with strong wind gusts from the north. It sure is a cold one!
We had snow all day yesterday, and I plowed the driveway 4 times, and the neighbors twice. We got about about 8 inches of snow. Then the winds kicked in last night and the temperatures dropped then it really felt like winter! And winter still doesn't arrive for another 10 days! I'm over it already, wake me up when spring gets here!

Good Friday morning all. Currently -8°C and overcast. Weatherman says we are getting more snow today. Oh joy.
I was hoping to get some Christmas shopping done today, but I may forego if the driving is going to be an issue.
There is always some decluttering/cleaning to do around the house instead!
Have a great day all :)

Christmas tree hunting and carting them home can be exhausting and torturous. I have several similar stories after hiking thru acres of tree farms in snow to cut a fresh tree ourselves and cart home . Only to find out that the tree looked so small outside , yet it outsized every room in the house. The tree stand had to be screwed to the floor and the tree hung by it’s top branches by a chain to a ceiling beam hook. Took 4 guys to loan and unload.

I now only use a fake tree that is a lot less stressful than a real tree or even those live trees in a planter to plant out in the garden later, which is what started a Xmas tradition I no longer find amusing.

To make a long story short I no longer have to deal with tons of spider mites that wake up in the warmth of our home that leave trials of webbing across the ceilings as if these Halloween spider versions were the least bit acceptable in the house. Or clean up needles constantly or to cage the cats that seem to be tirelessly attracted to the tree ornaments. Water the darn thing constantly and lets not forget how they shrink in the tree holder and begin to precariously lean to one side. I’ll stop here and spare the longer versions. I could add so much more. Have many x-mas tree horror stories that I’m sure many Stewbies have experienced .

Some stories very similar to scenes from the movie National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Today’s newer inventions for Xmas light decor inside and out make a huge difference. No more hanging lights in all the trees outside, climbing up on the roof and chimney. Or those blow up decorations that needed to be tied down. Now I just plug in the laser xmas lights that beams out scenes and the lights cover the entire house with one plug & one light unit. And to think I had to put in a separate electrical box just for all the strands of Xmas lights I put up in the past.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -3°C and snowing. Another few centimeters in the forecast today.
I'm off to the rink shortly, and then home to get our snowmobile running. A friend is coming over to help me get it running, and then hopefully I can get it over to my daughter and son in laws. They have 54 acres to play so they will enjoy it.
Have a great day all :)
