Hi Sojerd, sorry to have your brains confused for a long time. I was really busy with the visit of a very close family friend over the whole weekend and yesterday too! OK the pack of seeds is labelled as dwarf french beans and according to the shop owner it sounds more like the bush kind. Anyway I am not sure myself and I guess you have to wait till I get them planted I'll post a photo of when it is growing. Hope I managed to unconfused your brain a little :-D
Hahaha...yes, KK--When you said that the pack said, "Dwarf" then I know that it is ment to be a shin-high bushy type of bean plant. Looking foreward to the pics.
I forgot to say the vegetables do justice to the Apron. I'd drop in for a visit if it wasn't across so much water. I'll have to just enjoy them from a distance. dooley
Cayuga— yes I do, and we use it every year…mostly for beans. I have tried to contact Laura several times but get no answer. I have a bad feeling. She was a really nice person.
Nice read thru Dooly’s aprons. Very well designed. I admire those who sew. I could never quite get the hang of it.
I flunked Home Economics both years of Jr. High.!! Later, when in my 40's, because I wanted to do Civil War Reenactments, I taught myself to use a sewing machine and make myself dresses. The kind they wore with big hoops underneath. It's like anything else: once you become interested in a subject, you learn it. Not much interest? No incentive to learn. I may try and make me a harvest apron. I have plenty of material.
Anniekay so right about learning. I bet those dress you made were gorgeous. That is what got me started in at acres and acres of gardening. I kept stealing land from the horse pastures. I couldn’t stop. We can grow so much in this zone, more than any other I lived in.
@Sjoerd when you are next out in your shed or wherever it is that you hang that apron from Dooley, would you mind taking a good photo of it? So as I can really see how she made it? It looked like there is a sizable pocket sewn onto the front of the apron with a button at the top. Is that right? But don't worry, I know it's winter, don't make a special trip.
Cayu— will do. We are …popelen. I can’t think of an English word — sort of like eagerly waiting, to go to the garden. They hang in the garden shed. We have code orange here for the roads at the moment but tomorrow or the next day we will go. We also want to see what animal tracks are in the garden so we can identify our friends and foes. We are not used to snow here, take a look at these nutcases that had to go out anyway after being warned not to do so. What are they thinking.
Popelen = eager We had lots of snow in Massachusetts when I was a kid. We'd all be hovering around the radio or TV waiting for the "School Closing" announcement, eager to get on our snow suits and go sledding.
