Annie—Glad you like the apron. She made one for my Bride as well. We’d b lost without them. She also made us a tote-bag to take things back and forth to the lottie. Stuff like drinks, sarnies, reading materials and a host of “prullaria”.

Cayu— oh! I am glad you saw that in the end. I hope Netty can help you. That Dooley can sew! Bonne chance.

    prullaria = knickknacks, trinkets.

Sounds more like a disease than anything else.

"Help !! I have prullaria !! And I might be contagious !!.

    You are so thoughtful Cayuga.

I use an apron when baking, otherwise I would do SO much laundry. I made aprons for the Grandmothers in the family many years ago. And little aprons for the grandkids that matched. One time I made them aprons with hand and foot prints from my then babies feet and hands.

My children and I had matching aprons for baking and modeling clay.

    I think it's a wonderful idea.

I was just thinking, and you know how it is. When one thought leads to another... So I started wondering, if aprons should have pockets? This would indeed enhance it's usability.

However now in my thought experiment I came upon 2 problems. First is, a lot of us often forget things in the pockets. And secondly, cleaning and washing an apron with big pockets just complicated everything, (as food ingredients might get trapped in them. So not worth it.

    But...

What if net pockets are added, like stitched on to the aprons? It'll eliminate the issue about forgetting something in the pockets. As this will be see through. And no problems while washing it either, (as no food ingredients will be trapped in a new pocket).

I haven't seen any aprons on the market with net pockets. So this is going to make something which everyone will appreciate and cherish!

Oh yeah, @S-H, a gardening apron with mesh pockets !!

Then you wouldn't have to unpack your veg from a trug or your apron to wash it. You could just jump right into the river and wash your veg clean !!

    :D. just kidding.

@Anniekay I love your sense of humor! :smt044

Anyway I just used AI to generate these pictures. So I could show my idea of net/mesh pockets on aprons to everyone.

I actually got the idea from "brass catchers" on guns, which are (made of net/mesh) and nowadays becoming very popular. As brass has become pretty costly in recent years. So it makes sense to collect it for either reloading or simply for metal recycling - Criminals too prefer these ejected bullet shell catchers now, as they don't want to leave any shell casings behind, which later becomes evidence... These usually have a zipper at the bottom. For easy release of the spent shells.

They are net/mesh because they need to be see through. And also so they be self cleaning. Plus ejected bullet cartridges are very hot, therefore they need to quickly dissipate a lot of heat too.

I imagine a gardening apron would need big pockets, to hold pruners, maybe a container to pick raspberries into, etc.

That will no longer remain as an apron pocket. But go into the realm of a kangaroo's pouch. :snicker:

Best apron, which we would never need to take off, as well as super easily to wash - Would be the one tattooed on ourselves!

I sometimes marvel at my superior ability of finding solutions, (often for problems which aren't even there).

Cayu— well, the Bride and I popped out to the lottie today. We did not forget to take pics:
    Mine (front):

    Mine (back):

    The Bride’s (front):

I don’t find these pics very good because the lighting there was not optimal. So you can use your fingers to enlarge the images and see the sewing lines; however, if that is not suitable, I will bring them home and take more. Just let me know.

Perfect! I like the double layering of pockets, one up on the bib, 2 down closer to waist level. They look perfect for harvesting veggies, stowing twine, pruners, etc and it looks like a good tough material, hardy enough to stand up to gardening tasks.

Thank you!! You've given me some fine ideas.
