There are new beach resorts and ultra high luxury communities suddenly being built on the beach. This wasn't possible to do before, but now (allegedly) some palms have been greased - So there'll soon be some massive and shameless property development taking place at the beach. Many people are happy, as they see money coming in. But a lot of naturalists are steaming mad, (obviously). I myself have mixed opinions, yes I want to protect the environment, but here care other reasons to consider. So I would like to brainstorm with someone who has knowledge and/or experience about something like this - What do such developments become like in the future?
Well, rich folks can afford to lose a property like that. They just take the damages off their taxes as a deduction.
You sure do have a point. Because Karachi is the biggest port city of Pakistan, (over 20 million inhabitants). So the harbor is extremely busy. Which is why, often there's a ship which runs aground somewhere along the coast - I have seen that happen so many times in life, that today I've honestly lost count! One time around 20 years ago there was even a horrible oil spill, (biggest ecological disaster near a populated mega city in world history). So what if that ever happened again at these new resorts? I have ALWAYS tried my best to saving the environment. And the beaches where these new resorts are being built is a natural nesting ground for sea turtles. So I'm wondering, that with so much shameless commercialization of the beach - Who's going to look after the welfare of the endangered green sea turtles???
I don't think the rich care about sea turtles. And the poor can't do anything about it, Sad about the fate of the sea turtles.
The problem is socioeconomic too. Regarding the commercialization of the beach. Because the ugly truth is, that Karachi is a mega city of over 20 million inhabitants. Therefore the war to not commercialize the beachfront is already lost. It's now just a fight between planned commercialization, against unplanned and unregulated commercial activities, (from which criminal elements too eventually start sprouting). Just way too many people over here, way too many, who visit the beaches everyday. Therefore someone somewhere is bound to set up a makeshift stall, or something on wheels, selling something of some type for profit - From which government gets zero revenue as taxation, the culprits too wouldn't follow any rules and regulations, (as they aren't bound by anything). So this is how beaches get trashed... Even worse, when any area becomes a heap of trash, it starts to attract more garbage. Where eventually illegal activities too start. From selling of narcotics, to prostitution. So to stop this unregulated commercialization, the authorities decided to take this decision. For allowing planned commercialization, I'm sure many officials have taken hefty bribes, (palms getting greased) - But this is what's now going to happen. Commercialization cannot be stopped, as there's too much pressure. So now it's a battle between planned or unplanned commercialization. Therefore choose the lesser Devil, and create a gated beachfront enclave. Where the great unwashed people can't get to. At the very least, it'll stop the beach from turning into an open trash dumpling site. I however have a solution in mind, (which I have already put in play), but I want to hear all your thoughts and opinions about this. After which I'll disclose what I've done.
And here it is it, just got it yesterday, at almost the end of working hours - Receipt of the down payment, and thus proof and letter of allotment addressed to me! So I'm now going to be a resident of this resort too. Whenever it gets completed. I believe that this is the only I'll now be able to save the beach (as well as the turtle nesting grounds). Because the biggest advantage is - That now as an official resident of the resort community, I'll also have leverage. So now if I don't like the way things are going to get done, than I as a resident, will file Court cases on the management authorities. Which nobody will be able to ignore! In their greed, and unimaginable haste to get as much money from as many people, that too as quickly as possible - They stupidly allowed me in their too! So now, in the years to come, I'll become their biggest nightmare! Their future tsunami like migraine has just started, (which they are completely unaware of right now).
S-H, they won't know what hit them! S-H unleashed!! Watch out developers! BTW, I'm so glad I'm not in your crosshairs! (But seriously, I understand the conundrum & your concern). Another concern about development so close to flood zones is who pays when properties get damaged? Insurance companies? FEMA (in the US)? Those costs then fall on taxpayers. I understand that some folks have bought or inherited waterfront property before our weather became more unpredictable. Sad to see folks lose their investment. But how about incentives to get them to rebuild elsewhere? S-H who will cover those developments in Pakistan if a tsunami wipes them out?
At first nobody will pay anyone anything, (as compensation for a natural disaster like a tsunami, earthquake, or volcanic eruption). As such things are not an official government development. Therefore why should the government foot the bill? You build a resort, in a zone that's at risk. Therefore your fate is your own. That's the mindset anyhow, also the wealthy are expected to carry their own luggage. So should any disaster happen, be prepared to only see others just high five each other and just laugh at you with delight. Government doesn't care, politicians too don't care. In fact politics is actually organized mafia over here, (what little criminals aspire to graduate to later in life). So they won't help you, instead they will see you as a big fat dangling carrot, to try their luck with... Unless you're not wealthy, not super wealthy, but ultra wealthy. In which case politicians will be your best friends, (will even try their best to have their butt ugly inbred children get married to your children). So at this level, should anything happen to the resort, you wouldn't care about it at all. On the other hand, if this was not a resort, but a colony of the poor fishermen, basically the great unwashed. Then the government's attitude would still be the same. However poor people number more then wealthy people. So towards them the politicians will get off their butt and move Heaven and Earth, pretend to anyway. Or at least that is what it might look like to an outsider. As it would make sense too, as politicians only gravitate towards where the biggest vote bank is. But in reality, they will be filling their own pockets behind the scenes. By awarding rebuilding contracts to firms of their own relatives. Reconstruction bills will get overinflated also, as from that also everybody will get to eat from this gravy train. Delays will also be deliberately created, as more time it takes to complete anything, the more opportunity for such corruption to flourish further. So at the end of it all, where decades might have passed, the affected people of the disaster areas still won't get anything. And since they were poor people, they would have relocated somewhere else on their own - But now the politician's child, will most likely be your neighbor in this resort town. Or who knows, might actually be the developer who's building this, (after making sure that the original inhabitants left in disgust without any compensation). You really never know... That's why, the best action for me, is to poison this development from the inside, legally. So that it too now gets delayed for decades. Or they be forced to make environmental protection a first priority.
And no, nobody here is in my crisshairs. So please relax. I actually have no other use for my law degree, except for using it like a weapon. I already have my qualifications and profession. But after 2 decades of being cheated by one lawyer after another - I was now completely fed up. So instead of throwing another small fortune on another lawyer, to protect a huge fortune - I decided to why not just become a lawyer myself! It's the cheaper and sensible solution. This way no lawyer I now hire will be able to cheat me behind my back, (like they all habitually have been doing since the beginning of time)... They say that prostitution is the oldest profession, followed by thievery. So then a prostitute and a thief got married, they were quickly blessed with twins. A politician, and a lawyer. As for my recent law degree, it was just for my own empowerment and protection. But I'll never be able to make a career out of it. As that's for someone in their early 20s. Because to get yourself and your law practice established, you first need to get clients to defend in the lower district courts for at least 2 years. After which a committee will review you. To see if at all you are worthy to be allowed into the High Court Bar Association. Or not... Like in the 2 years all you did was just fight a few cases, then obviously you're no good. Or if you processed a hundred cases, but lost the majority of them, then again, you're no good. So like I said above already, this kind of legwork is for someone half my age, who is strictly focused on this profession alone. I just don't have it in me to be chasing after ambulances from morning to night. But that still doesn't mean I can't practice law for my own self. Because now I'm armed with a law degree, with a license to practice. Therefore I only now use this as a weapon, to torment as many people as possible, (who crossed my path in the wrong way).
Now back to how the resort colony is probably going to look like, (if completed to my satisfaction). Pictures are AI generated.
