We have a Civil War battle field where I used to live. They have a reenactment there every year but they won't let you dig in the soil. That place has to be loaded up with musket balls.
Quite distinctive this one, Harlow Slipware... https://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/documents/s164140/Update from the Museum of London.pdf
Zigs Interesting history on that pottery find . How does if feel to find so many artifacts? How do you find the historical value on them? What a cache.
Ta Pac It makes me think a lot about the folk that lost the things in the first place. Like the bloke making a left handed flint tool and the chap that lost the arrow head before he finished it. Wonder what he said when it went flying off his knee not to be seen again for 8,000 years? I bet he said something like "ᛒᚢᚴᛅᚱ" Most of the Roman stuff isn't worth that much as there's a lot of it. You can pick up a Roman oil lamp for about £200. I was suprised at the price of Medieval tiles though, they can fetch £200 to £500 each
Excellent Clay You never know what's down there till you try. These are a few finds from last summer... Better shot of the lead seal, these were used on sacks of seed. Someone used to grow crops here as a small holding.
Ta Sjoerd Hoping to add a few more things and hopefully the new metal detecting contingent of the forum can now join in as well Till then, here's a Chi Ro that we found under a slab of stone while we were working on Topsham Church in Devon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi_Rho
