I luv abelias and azaleas they are the evergreen bones in the garden and faithful bloomers every spring. I’m surprised and happy they do well there too.

Question … about the truck that cleans up your yard debris you carted to a ditch… ? Lucky you… Geez I’m lucky they pick up just my weekly trash . Half the time I get notices left on my trash can that they don’t take this & don’t take that , and you can recycle xyz. What do they do now X-ray the trash cans now!

Yes, we have ditches because the side streets don't have a drainage or sewer system, just the main streets do. I live on a corner lot and have a ditch on one side. We are not allowed to burn anything so, we have a big truck with a big arm that rotates around and this big hand is on the end which grabs up the yard debris then it swings up and around and dumps it in the truck.

When I was living in Germany we had 4 different trash cans. One for yard debris cut into no bigger than about 18" long, one for paper, one for plastic and one for kitchen garbage.
The garbage men DID take a cursive look and if you had something not right, they did not empty the container at all and you got a note.

Then, you had to take glass and ceramic stuff to a special recycle area where one dumpster was for white glass, one for green glass, one for brown and one for clear. The one on the far end was for anything made of clay: pottery, crocks, dishes, etc. So, don't complain !! You could have been born in Germany !! :smt044

It got up to about 40 today. So more snow is melting. That makes it muddy, which is just as slick as the ice. I have been trying to get the dog poo cleaned up.

I did go through my seeds and made a list of the seeds that I have, and a list of more seeds that I want... My indoor stuff is doing well.

I was out cleaning up, and fell and landed on my shovel. Ouch. Thankfully, I am okay, just bruised on my left leg. I fell Friday also...

Ooo sorry … ouch…:setc_088: Falling is a cursive to possible serious injuries. Please be careful… slow down and be mindful of every movement. It’s a jungle out there and as we age ourselves we tend to forget that sometimes we are not as athletic as we once were.

@AAnightowl I feel for you, be careful.

Our green bin they will take paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, aluminium tins, airerosols, that's altogether and it gets sorted elsewhere. Can't put aluminium foil, pump mechanism that's in pump bottles.
At the supermarket can take plastic bags and some of the sealing plastic on containers but not with sticky labels on them.

The tomatoes come in cardboard containers and the mushrooms in cardboard covered with plastic so does the breaded chicken breast, it can be recycled in the green bin.

Not doing anything outside it's raining again.

As I had just showered and washed my hair it seemed the ideal time to go outside and get more soaked.:D
I collected mail from our post box and raked up a load of very mushy leaves that had accumulated along the entrance pathway...a definite slip hazard!!!
Annoyingly I had previously cleared all of ours but despite our neighbours having gardeners in regularly they never seem to collect up and dispose of the leaves !! The wind tunnel that we have here then conveniently dumps them on us!!:smt086:smt086

So many blooms now in the garden, Helebores are putting on a great show, as are the Crocus and Snowdrops. Daffs and Tulips are pushing up along with a load of other bulbs that all ended up mixed up so.....surpise, surprise!!!!:D

The rain is thundering down now so way too dark and gloomy for taking pics.:(

Just the usual pasture check and trimmed a few branched off the weeping cherry tree. It still has a few wild hairs sticking up…I’ll have to rent a bucket lift to get those really really high branches growing straight up. Didn’t anyone tell them they are weeping branches & are supposed to gracefully arch down. Ugh.

Today I pruned the first Asian pear tree. There are two of those, then two European pear trees. One of each would be enough if they didn't need a pollination partner.

    IMG_5720.jpeg

The goal - leaves and fruits too high for deer but low enough for me.

This was the first fruit tree I planted when we bought the place. The pears are not that great, but it pollinates its neighbor that has much tastier pears.

Also, daffys starting to look vigorous. I think I transplanted them to this location, from the old place, about 15 years ago.

Oreti I didn’t know you were a pilot. See ya soon…:smt041

I started out with all kinds of good intentions to do garden stuff. I started the compact tractor all went well there.
Then did the usual pasture check and did a slightly mow here & there.
Leaf blower went well on the patios and driveway. All nice and neat.
Came in for a sandwich … sat down … and that’s when all my ambition went down hill… Shouldn’t have sat down.
Discovered that I’m spent for the day… so decided to just rest up for another day. :smt035
Besides Roxy wanted to play frisbee…
