@AAnightowl, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry reading your injury history. I certainly can relate to a lot of what happened along your trail of injury challenges. Very glad that at 71 you’re still going strong and enjoying your life journey as well as sharing your gardening skills and stories . I guess… Life is like a box of candy ya never know what your gonna get.

 

Well done @AAnightowl, you've certainly been through a lot...gosh!! You have the fighting spirit to ' pick yourself up, brush yourself down' and keep going.

The good thing is you know what you can and can't do and what is good for your body.
So long as we keep a good lifestyle balance that we are willing to adapt as we age and never give up the things that bring us joy.....and you are doing a great job of this.....that is what is really important. x

 

Taking a morning coffee break from prepping the greenhouse in readiness for some ' growing action'.
Just cleaned inside and dumped a lot of rubbish...broken pots, snapped label tags....pots with dead and unrecognizable occupants..( I did say I had snapped label tags ) and even pots with compost in them and no occupants .

I'm now off out to wash the outside of it as its sporting a rather tatty looking 'green coat'. We 've had more rain this morning so hopefully that will make the job a tad easier..

 

All washed and now the rain is doing the final rinse for me.

I have also cut right back the Yellow Rod and Catananche caerulea ,they were retained for their winter interest and benefits to wildlife.

 

This euonymus was supposed to be a rockery plant, which we bought decades ago. But I encouraged it to grow up the fence behind the rockery.



Over ten years ago I put a woven plastic "robin's nest" in it, I'd bought, but there wasn't much evidence of it being used.


But, in the last few days I've seen a robin going into the leaves, I've not gone anywhere near the nest. So as at the moment I'm not using either of the trail/cams as the hedgehogs will still be hibernating, I've fixed this one to one of the garage pergola posts, to record any activity.

Riley— you’ve got my interest now with the robin news.

 

That reminds me… It’s that time of year…Gardeners… hook up those cams… .

 

I ate pasta for lunch and it made me drowsy so, I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 3:45 pm !! So I grabbed a coffe and went outside. I planted 3 cauliflower and a cabbage. I had thought that I had 4 cabbages, I was mistaken. Then I got trimming my knockout roses and some other roses and bushes and when it got dark I came in.

The hard freezes we had did my broccoli plants in so those went into the compost and my cauliflowers went next to where that broccoli was. Tomorrow I plant more carrots, peas and lettuce because the frost damaged lots of those as well.
