Our Georgia Groundhog "Cournel Beauregard Lee" agrees. He is at 85% accuracy and he went back inside too.

Ah who listens to that silly ground critter. Punxsutawney #%#* anyway. And how do they know that he did absolutely positively see his shadow. They say when he emerged from his burrow last week in Pennsylvania , he saw his shadow which means 6 more weeks of winter. Bah - Hun- Bug.

Here’s my guy sitting on top of his house in my garden who looked me straight in the eye and said..
“No more winter , Gardeners start your engines !”

So you, out in the warm West this winter have your Sqidmore Squirrel for predictions and we, in the East, have our Groundhogs. Do not diss The Cournel !!

. This year the East, including me down South are having a very cold winter and snow, and the Polar Vortex. You have no such affectations.

    So there.

Good Friday morning all. Currenly -8°C and overcast. We have snow in the forecast today, with some squalls later. Yuck.
Its been a busy few days around here! Yesterday I did my errands and shopping and then came home and helped my son split firewood. I've also been trying to catch up on my bookwork for the skating club, and did some toy shopping for 2 grandkids birthdays. The weather has been nice too, so I've been trying to get in some outside time. Spring will be here before we know it, just got to get through a few more snow storms
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -24°C and feeling like -38°C with the wind chill. Brrrrrr!
We had a little snow storm last night, but mostly strong winds and cold temperatures. The wind was shaking the house and the furnace was running a lot.
Off to the rink shortly, and then to a birthday party for 2 of my grandkids. DD will be sleeping over so I'll be home with both dogs tonight. Should be an interesting night as the puppy usually sleeps with my daughter and is very bonded to her. I have a funny feeling that I wont be getting too much sleep tonight.
Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently -26°C feeling like -30°C with the windchill. I think this is the last very cold night for a bit. The high is expected to hit -9°C today.
It was too cold to do much outside yesterday, so today I hope to get the snowblower going to widen the driveway that was filled in with drifts on Friday night. Its that hard packed, heavy kind of snow that you can stand on so its going to be a job for sure. Car can just barely fit down one part of the driveway.
    39 days until spring :stew1:
Have a great day all :)

A pic of the harbour tower sets the trend of today:

    Right then, what to do?
The paprika’s got planted, two per cell.
    IMG_1764.jpeg

These are the seed types this year:
    IMG_1765.jpeg

Heating pad, vermiculite and the watering bottle. The countdown begins. They will not go out until May.

In-between we watched Olympic short track.

Then, the chile. The ingredients were stalled-out and I began with the knife-work. While I was rough-chopping, I also fine-cut some to freeze for quick use with other meals or meat balls.

The whole time my Bride was talking about how happy she is with the induction plate. The quickness, the control, the ease and the trustworthiness.

We get up and stir and taste it from time to time.

This time we will not add the beans. Instead, we will add the kidney beans when we take a frozen bak for a quick meal.

We have never done it this way, it ought to be alright. It will save on storage. Fingers crossed.

We finally got the travel pics put in a book it was fun looking at the old pics and reminiscing.

We also pulled the garden book that we made of our plot — from the first day until its maturity. The book is divided into two halves— the flower garden and the veggie quadrants. wow, how things have changed.

The first six or seven years we experimented quite a bit with gardening techniques, flower and veg types, as well water collection and use, soil handeling, composting and plot rotation. It has been a journey.

We have a new can opener:
    IMG_1772.jpeg

We still that old Dalek that Eileen gave us when they came to visit back in the day. R.I.P. sweet colleague and friend.

That's a pretty nice looking composter !! BUT, they shouldn't have named it after a bumpy horrifying blob of a robot
