I trimmed my big pyracantha, which has lots of thorns and I have the puncture wounds to prove it, weeded the areas around the bushes on the north side of the property and fertilized them and replenished the mulch. After that I got the small blackberry bed weeded and fertilized and mulched that and the gardenia on the end of the bed lots more to do!! I might be finished by mid summer.:)

Too early to say really, at the moment we have pretty heavy rain ( although it's referred to in our forecast as 'light rain':headscratch:) . So as I'm determined to get some more gardening jobs ticked off today it will be a day of donning the wet weather gear and dodging the heavier downpours.
One job that I'm just heading out to do is to fill up some more seed trays with prepared compost and then start to sieve another batch in readiness to fill more trays before stacking them up inside the house to warm up prior to sowing.:D:like:

Saw the tornado warning on the news , first thing I thought about was I hope it won’t come your way. Take care stay safe. Roll up in those horse rugs you’ll be safe. This is the year of the fire horse. :fingerscrossed: Seriously hope you don’t loose power and or experience a loss of your garden . I’m coming over there and bringing you what you need if you have any needs . Those tornados sound like a freight train going over , very scary . I’ve heard a few when in Florida. :fingerscrossed:

Yes with you there Anniekay I really don't mind gardening in most weathers but definitely not in strong winds. :smt018 I use to hide away in the greenhouse and busy myself there but not anymore, we had panes of glass smashed whilst I have been in there so it's a no go area now in gales.

Cleared away some more leaves that had accumulated ( again) around a couple of batches of half eaten bulb shoots. I fear the year is going to prove a good one for slugs and snails.:smt022
It is too wet still to walk over to the larger borders as the lawn is a swamp.

I spent ages hunting for the miniscule remains of some vermiculite ...... needed for covering a tray of seeds. As it turned out the amount was very miniscule indeed so have added some to my shopping list. Thankfully I think there was enough for today's task:fingerscrossed:
I sowed a few Dahlias ...Fireworks
    Malva... Zebrina.
    Cleome
    Stock ...Giant Perfection Mixed.

@Pacnorwest so far no tornado but I posted in weather about a house shaking lightning strike we had. And you're welcome anytime !! :D

@Oreti glad you weren't hurt with the shattered glass in your greenhouse !! With all the rain you've had all the slugs and snails ought to have drowned by now !! :p

Annie…Your House shaking from lightning Yikes ! That was a close hit. Maybe a hard hat wouldn’t be a bad idea just in case…
Last time my house shook was during an earthquake…4 points on the rector scale in the 90’s. Oh wait I take that back… Would you believe a neighbor passed away last year and was a collector (hoarder), of explosive devices. It turned out they had to set off several high caliber explosive devices on site because they become unstable over time. The house shook several times during those highly stressful and toxic explosions. Didn’t slow down the critters at all around here.

Oreiti… instead of glass frames that are a pane to clean, Pardon the pun)…I just power-wash the inside and out to keep it fresh and clean. Lasted now over 30 years. There are several alternatives instead of glass replacements now. Even though glass is the by far the best for light efficientcy , a broken pane is a risk yet not often in many cases.

My litttle tiny green house is double sided polycarbonate panels for insulation and energy efficiency, in winter lights, in summers a shade cloth are necessary. Survived everything the winter windy weather has thrown at it , Including tree branches.

A friend had her windows replaced in her home. She repurposed all the old double paned windows to build a greenhouse , each different sizes. It turned out great.
