Here it's so warm that any protection from rain would make a person perspire into a puddle !!

It dried up enough late this afternoon to get some work done outside. I weeded my Mayhaw tree bed and 3/4 of the large blackberry patch. Fertilized what I got weeded. Hopefully it rains tomorrow like they predict.

I have been out several days digging up more sedums, and hauling fall debris to compost or burn pile depending on what it is. I am already finding sedums that I somehow missed and will have to dig up. The ones that I tossed out back on the edge of the woods are growing, so they will be fine. Probably the ones in the front ditch will grow also. They can just go wild, because I won't have time to take care of them. The pollinators love them in late summer and fall. I have also been digging up excess rose of Sharon bushes. Some I will share with a friend, and others I will have to toss. I have hundreds of them, and no way to keep them all.

Our internet and cell service has been very limited for over a week. I finally got a text from my phone company yesterday that they were working on the problem.

Yesterday there was a big fire south of here. The smoke was billowing hundreds of feet into the air, and thick near the ground. I could not call anyone to find out if it was a controlled burn or a wildfire...Messaging was not working very well. A friend says it was a controlled burn that got out of control. We have had burn bans for several days, and more tomorrow. We have a lot of high winds and dry weather. I think it is criminal to burn in such weather. I took some pictures of the smoke, and have been trying to post them on FB for well over 24 hours. I still only have 1 bar or only SOS on my phone.

Glad you are all safe in your bad weather.

Stay safe AA keeping my eye on the wildfire reports. Has been an unusual occurrence this time of year.:fingerscrossed: You will not have to endure smoke invasion around your area.

Pac— I go for mice, rats and moles. I just use the conventional traps that kill instantly without suffering.
Now is actually the best time to get moles since it is when the males are very active digging out tunnels and looking for mates.

Four Cabbage plants, that I started under grow lights, have gotten big enough to plant out so I did that and that's it because I have a driveway paver coming after lunch .

It's finally here. The 2026 garden season has begun. My seed starting mix is prepared. Dropping peppers and some perennial flower seeds this weekend.

I finished planting the potted crocuses and some potted snakes head fritillaries, it was too cold to do anything else.
