I'm of the same era. But I was never a fan of the Beatles. At the time in England, there were a lot of pop groups, just as popular some more so than the Beatles and anyway I was more into jazz and Motown. My joke was inspired by this 1973 album cover, of which a staged photo was used to promote a pretty average "cop show." which I couldn't manage to watch more than a few episodes. A sobering thought is that of the nine featured on this album cover who are still alive, are just Paul McCartney and the boxer John Conteh.
