We’ve been busy at home and in the garden the past coupla days. The was sun intermittently. Carpe diem, they say. We planted more seeds here at home and placed the incubator on a heating pad. Some are beginning to pop up now. We began with the paprika’s. Then it was time for the broad beans and peas. Then a weekly house cleaning. in the lottie we cleared the canal of those large, white reed roots that keep floating by our plots. The compost and leaf mould needed aerating and flipping. Then there was the greenhouse— the weeds were removed thoroughly. it needed the soil removed and the new mix will go in later. Further, some of the bamboo sticks needed replacing, and all the sticks needed to be secured in the ground and onto the crossbar. What a job! My Bride did a great deal of the soil shifting this year while I went off with my sécateurs to mistreat some trees. yes, they always thing that they have escaped my notice…but then; like a crossbow bolt from the blue, I sweep down to pass among them with my sharp garden tool. The Rhamnus frangula, the Buddlejas and some wayward Clematus “arms” as well as the Wisteria were on the list. The little twig bin is now totally full. After the Laurier finishes blooming it will be cut back and we will bundle the whole woody business will be gathered-up and removed to the garden refuse collection point. At the end we made a beginning at tidying-up the path edges. There were a couple of joyful scenes there in the flower garden: a honey bee in a Crocus. …and a hover fly on a winter aconite: Well chaps, I can tell you that my Bride and I are well sore from the first couple of work days of the new season. Righty-ho, first a little sit-down and a cuppa. Of course, we had to congratulate ourselves profusely, if not with a tone of suffering. Only one thing for it — a trip to Mickey D’s for a burger, a wrap and romantic sunset.
Sjoerd just a “GORGEOUS and DELIGHTFUL “ encouraging pics. Hopeful to see spring coming soon… March 20, 2026 , 7:46 am , Pacific time , first day of northern Hemisphere ‘Spring Equinox ‘. That last pic … looking out over the water toward the sunset … is picture of the month for sure .
Pac— Oh, cheers for that. Those blooms were truly a comfort to have in the garden. It was great sitting there in my coat and warm hat, munching on a burger.
