I've watched a bit more of Lolita Lobosco, the 2023 Italian detective series streaming on C4.
In the episode, the singer Jimmy Fontana was mentioned, and this recording was played over a few "recollections scenes" in the programme.

So I looked him up and found the song on YouTube.
It was uploaded sixteen years ago and has had 24m hits.

It's had nearly 5,000 comments, the most recent was yesterday!

It was made by someone, who said they heard it during the televised Winter Olympics closing ceremony yesterday!

I just heard over here from member @Logan that Niel Sedaka has passed away. So I'm now looking up his songs on YouTube.

He was a wonderful singer, loved by everyone everywhere, all across the planet

    Sad news.
I've always admired Neil Sedaka. It's a sobering thought that he was the same age as I will be this year!

He was a classically trained pianist having gone to Juilliard, so that's why his songs mostly contained more than the four chords so popular with his contemporaries.

After recording this song he wrote with Howard Greenfield, first time around, uptempo, he recorded it again fifteen years later, starting off up-tempo then changing to a slow ballad. The song works well both ways.
I like to play it on my Tyros 5.

That brings back memories, i've still got the sheet music.
I probably bought it in the mid sixties.

Janis Siegel was a member of Manhattan Transfer, but subsequently she was still able to have a career, as she had a very good voice.

I may have posted this before, it's a track I have on a USB stick in my car. It was an mp3 YouTube video rip I made a few years ago, but the video was taken down. It was made by Natalie Cressman, who is a jazz trombonist with her own band. It's nothing like other stuff she plays.

It's a cover of this by Frank Ocean,

But I prefer Natalie Cressman's version with her band. It's on my "Box" library. She has such an impressive vocal range.

Songs can be fun, but soon they all get very boring... However songs which are parodies of other popular songs, are in a class of their own!

    :snicker: :rofl::smt044
