A family of bluetits (Cyanistes caeruleus)has babies.

We have several birdhouses on the lottie and some of them are inhabited. One of the birdhouses has a hinged door with a glass pane behind it. Two days ago we opened the door for a quick look and foto--it all happened in about 2 seconds.
I am tall enough to see, but I put my partner on a garden chair with the camera...counted to three...and then opened it. One shot and that was it.

These babies were two days old when we took the foto.
They are ugly and cute at the same time.

You're right...ugly but cute at the same time! That's a great set up for shots like that. Some birds here are sitting on nests, but I haven't heard any babies yet.

Awww, I find them ugly-cute too. :D I hope they grow up quickly and help you keep the flying pests under control.

What a great photograph!!! So pleased to see that you have babies on your lottie. Let's hope the whole brood survives so that next year they can rear their babies too. :stew1:

They have faces 'only a mother could love'. But they are still cute.

What a great pic Sjoerd. Sounds like it took a team effort to get it though. They are very cute and ugly. I think baby anything is so great. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty good picture. You really do take them well. I don't have any birdhouses around my home, but what a really cool idea. I would never have thought to put a glass pane in the box, for quick viewing. :)
