10 july of this year, we took a day off to go up to Enkhuizen to visit an small public garden called, “de Garden”. It was cool and overcast that day and most of the plants had only recently been planted…so there wasn’t much to see. Here is a foto from the 10th:

Today those Impatiens have filled out and grown a wee bit taller:

…but I am getting ahead of myself. I will begin with some pics nearer the entrance.

The first section is filled with flowering plants and various veggies. Here is one of the plants we are looking at for next year.

Yes, I know— we are already planning for next year. We looked at some flowers and veg, took their pics with their names and will file those until we order sometime in jan-feb.

After spending some time looking over each bed and chatting with a volunteer, we moved on to the other section, walking along this path:

The next section seemed to contain a preponderance of Brassicas, but never mind…

…there was also a romantic corner with water, swans and an old city gate.

In one direction there were more flowers

There were more Brassicas, to be sure, but also some lettuces.

This final pic includes Braccias but also some courgettes.

It was more fun to visit de Garden now that it is sort of at its high-point. Surprisingly there was an article about this place in the local paper, a pity that it is written in Dutch because it was well written and told about the pluck and cut days coming- up. The artists are also coming to paint and take photographs.

An interesting addendum is that at the end of the season all veg that was left wold be loaded-up and taken to the local Food Bank. A very nice thing to do.

That looks good, it's good to see what plants turn out before you decide for next year, we're planning on what we're going to do next year.

Beautiful pics. Enjoy the style, colors and variety of plants. Thank for sharing. Reminds me of a brocade design weaving colors and plants thru out the landscape. Has a very unique effect.

Cheers Pac— now you mention it, I can see the brocade texture too.
