I've had these for years and have no idea what it is(neither did my friend who gave me the original)

It seems to thrive on the neglect/over watering regime it goes through.

The leaves are shiny and have a plastic feel. When it flowers there are hundreds of tiny white flowers on a single stem. There is a constant cycle of leaves growing then drying and falling off.

    Any ideas gratefully received :D

Your plant of many years is a pepperomia polybotrya, they are very easy care and rewarding as you have already found.

What a cute plant, glad chocolate was able to name it for you.

We do have all sorts of peperomia in our database but not that one. You could help us update the plants if you would Click Here and enter the name Peperomia polybotrya in the Plant Name box. Then we could get it entered, you could upload your photo and any information you have on the plant. ;)

I think your plant actually might be a Pilea peperomioides, Peperomia polybotrya seems to have more pointed leaves. They look pretty similar though so it's often difficult to tell :)

It is a beautiful plant. Don't think I've ever seen one.
