Have all been combined to make a birdfeeding station and a barrier to the postal works who ignore the sign on the mailbox and try to sneak across the garden anyway. Feeding station and mailcarrier block ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
Heh heh heh--I like it! I hope it will be as effective as it is attractive. Do you get alot of birdies?
Thanks for the nice comments, not too many of the birds have found it yet but with 5 other feeders out there it may be a while. I quit feeding the Black Oil Sunflower seeds last spring, now the squirrels and the large Grackles don't hang around like they used to and empty feeders in a few minutes. I feed only Safflower seeds now, they are a little more expensive per bag but that bag last so much longer without the hogs of the critter world out there feasting and keeping the others away. Both front and back yards get visited every day by dozens of Sparrows, Mourning Doves, Redwinged Blackbirds, Cardinals and Blue Jays. Yesterday they were here about 9a.m. for 2nd breakfast then I didn't see hardly any the rest of the day. Today they were here around 3 p.m. for mid-afternoon snack. I never know for sure when they will arrive. The Blue Jays show up less frequently and this year there has been a Cardinal couple playing around in the Crepe Myrtle trees, they come to the birdbath and feeders too.
I love the chicken feeder idea!!!! That would be cute in my cottage garden Now I have something to look for at yard sales and thrift stores
Looks great Toni! The things we have to do to keep people out of our gardens! I had an area that I had to chicken wire off so my neighbors dog would stay out of my pumpkins. Yours looks WAY better!
Very nice, I'll have to try the safflowers too. I get tired of the squirrels emptying the "squirrel-proof" feeder. They hang on it with their back feet like furry bats and scoop the seeds out.
You've got the best ideas on how to decoratively keep people off your garden. I'd love to dine in there if I were a bird.
