This is the second year that this fella has shown up. It is a Ringed Turtle-Dove. A few of us have seen it, but it is way out of element. I've put some seed under the trees today to help it out in the snow. No one knows how and why it is here....must be a northern pioneer.

Ahh a bird I recognise!! We have them here and they tend to hang around with Wood Pigeons. They look like such gentle birds but they can stand up for themselves at feeding time.

Melody, we have them here in central Texas, but call them Eurasian Collared Doves. Isn't is amazing the different names for the same birds?
They come to our feeders, preferring the black sunflower seeds on the platform feeder.
There is something about doves that just make you say, "ahhhh."

Like Eileen, we have those here as well. They come and eat at our feet sometimes. That is rare for this type of bird, as they are normally way too nervous and mistrustful of humans.

Great pics, Mel. I enjoyed seeing those.
