A strange moth to identify...

    Hello all,

    Here is a litte butterfly with feather-like wings photographied in New Hampshire last July.

    I know it is a Pterophoridae but no idea about the genus/species...

    Any ideas???

    Looks like it may be a Hellinsia paleaceus, but it's hard to say.

    It's definately a Pterophoridae -- Plume Moth. We have a white variety here in Scotland too. Strange little things but strangely attractive too. :stew2:

    Thank you redrose and eileen for your help about this species...

    I finally found it! :)

    It is Hellinsia homodactyla. So redrose was very close with the correct genus...

    So I will be a new family on my website :)
