Some of you may remember the young collared dove I was feeding daily a while back. Well here he/she is now. I think it's a very handsome bird - more so than others of its kind - but maybe that's just because I consider myself to be its foster mum. ;)

    Its a beaut, Eileen.
    I like doves.
It looks like you have done a very good job of rearing that creature.
    Well done, you. :)

Pretty birds, a bit cautious, we have two that come twice a day landing about 40 feet away then slowly walk to be under the thistle feeder where they feed for 10 to 15 minutes.

That is a very handsome bird. We have Mourning Doves and I love hearing them early in the morning.
They do tend to clean out a feeder almost as quickly as a squirrel but they do clean up the ground under the feeders when the sparrows have made a mess.

He is very handsome and sweet looking. And I love that dove grey color that he is. I have a number that hang out in my yard. They like to sit among the pots or under the grill on the patio area. I worry about kitties getting them as they're not very quick getting up off the ground.

Very handsome/pretty. We, too, get some very hungry Mourning Doves at the feeders... well actually UNDER the feeders. They seem to prefer to clean up everyone else's mess.

I have quite a few of them but they are ones that fly away first and scare the other birds into leaving too.

I walk into my backyard and they take off. I am amazed that the hawk never goes for one of them. I do enjoy the sound they make. :)

That's an especially fine dove specimen, of course. :D I hope the dove thanks you by helping out around the garden.
