American goldfinches in the garden...

    I spent a long time this morning just watching and taking pictures of all the bird action going on in my yard..The finches are still going for the liatris seeds and the cosmos seeds..It really is cute seeing them sit on a cosmos stem and have it bend over with them still hanging on..

    Gorgeous fotos.It looks like they are loosing their summer plumage.

    Yes...the bright yellow is gone now...but I still have some that are feeding their young...

    It is suppose to get down to freezing tonight here...Yuck...I am not ready for this...Sherry

    I'm glad you're feeding the birds Sherry as I always feel so sorry for them having to endure the cold temperatures. They just seem too delicate to survive yet somehow they do.

    Your birds are lovely. I've heard that the cold isn't the worst for birds as long as they have access to food. It's the wet weather that kills them if they're unlucky enough to get soaked.

    Thanks for showing the winter plumage Sherry...I was wondering what happened to to my Gold Finches! I guess they just look different now!
