While digging out back and destroying bulbs and weed uncritically, this cool beetle suddenly crawled out. I've never seen anything like it, it looked a bit "crumpled", I guess it wanted me to think it was a decaying leaf or something:

Is that head part orange as the photo shows or more yellow?

It's more brown, actually. I think it's some kind of carrion beetle, but have been unable to find a photo on the net since I've no idea what to search for.

Hah, got it! Toni's remark helped a lot, thank you. It's an Oiceoptoma thoracica. I put "brown" instead of "orange".

Carrion Beetle is what I found on page 10 of the Beetles shown on Whatsthatbug.com But the head on that one looks to be yellow with a brown dot, that's why I asked about the color.

You know, I am not really scared of any bug but looking at 18 pages of beetles has given me a creepy crawling feeling like I need to brush them off me

Oh, poor you! Thanks for your help, though. I tried searching in Norwegian, but it did no good at all so I switched to English. I found some information about it, it's a European type.

That bug-site is really something! Never thought to save that, but I think I need to save it to favourites, and maybe I'll be able to help myself better later on.
