We have done the first apple harvest. We just shook the two trees and what fell down into the nets we basketed.

    We sauced them last night.

It amounted to seven kilo’s applesauce in the pots. What a job, it took hours.

My, great minds do run on the same track! I'm making applesauce today. Not any seven kilos, but enough to tire me out with peeling and chopping.

Dja’know what’s the bad thing? My trees are still full. The seven kilo’s of cleaned apples are only about a fifth of the total. Oh dear me.
    Still.....great minds. Yeah. ;)

Why do that MG ? I just wash and cut into quarters then remove the seeds and core,, cook for about 30 minutes or so then just squeeze the apple out of the peel or use a sieve ! Much faster and easier than peeling and chopping ! Plus you get some of the pectin present in the peel !

Poor lady. The work can be backbreaking.
How many trees do you harvest from?

Mart, I peel and core and save the peelings and cores to make apple jelly. It's the old "if you grow it, you don't waste it" thing!

Well, we didn’t waste our peels ‘n cores—just ask the fallow deer and geese in the park behind our house. Those beasts went for the peels like pigs would when I would slop them as a child.

I don't have that many apples as @Sjoerd and @Tetters but enough to peal, core and slice cooking apples and put in freezer, but we didn't have any off our trees or the neighbour up our close who gives us some.

That was a box we bought from, our usual trees didn't have much of a crop this year. But we have planted new apple, plum and cherry trees this spring :)
