Here comes another cast off. He was afraid of people until he saw that no one would hurt him . A good 60 lb + black and tan hound cross with huge feet but very sweet personality.. Have no idea where he came from. We must have "sucker" posted across our foreheads ! Vet bill is more than we spend on ourselves,,,but someone has to take care of them !
This sounds really familiar, Mart. My grandparents lives rurally and my gran was especially tender-hearted for cats. She would always take a stray in....Word got around and it became so bad that folks would drive by at night and actually throw a cat out of the auto window into my grandparent's yard. The count was up to 14 at one point. All the cats lived outside and it was perfect for them there on a rural farm. They kept the mouse pop down and in return, they got fresh, warm cow's melk straight from the pail. You should have seen them at 17,00 in the afternoon following my granddad up the 150 yard path from the barn...all walking single file up to the house. My grandfather would ladle out foamy milk into their containers and they would all drink the milk at once, then lol about, cleaning their faces with their paws. ---Ahh, sweet childhood memories. My gran was a good person and I am sure that you are....not a "sucker", just someone who cares and is willing to help. Bless you.
Mart, you are a good person and that is one lucky dog! As someone who has recently adopted three kittens and paid vet bills, I sympathize.
Good for you Mart. There are so many animals that need good homes. We need more folks like you to help them.
