I put up a small feeder close to the house because I have problems with hawks . I took my sons Christmas tree and put it on the side of it for some protection from the hawk...But the hawk has to eat too even though I turn my head when he dives into my spruce trees for a little bird...MOTHER NATURE... What cuties you have at the feeder. We have hawks that roam the skies above my neighborhood too. I haven't seen one diving for anything, but there are a couple of feral cats I have tried to call to his attention tho.
Don't you just love the way the Doves fluff out when it's cold? They are so sweet. I have so many Juncos here, they are the cutest little guys! I like your photos!
Wonderful shots Sherry. I know how you feel about the Hawk ... cool to look at but not so nice to see trying to eat our other feathered friends. I still have a Hawk that lands outside my kitchen window. I chase him away, I'd rather he ate up the field mice!
Toni, google feral cat organizations in your area, they may be willing to come out and trap the cats, have them fixed and re-home them. It's worth a try.
We don't have any of the species you've shown us in your photographs. It's so nice to see birds from different parts of the world. :-D
I am so glad that you are showing your bird piccies again. It looks like you have some attractive guests this winter. That dove sure lookes comfy and cozy.
Oh goodie. Sherry is at it again! Eileen, what different birds come to your yard? I must not be very observant -- I only see robins, sparrows, black birds and this one kind of black bird that I call Darth Vaders because they sit in the tree and glare at me meanly... They look almost purple in the sun. Maybe a Grackle?
Lovely birds! I'm so glad you're trying to give them protection from the hawks, I'm certain they appreciate your efforts.
Thank you everyone...the hawk is still around. I think he is taking up permanent residence across the street...I plan on leaving that Christmas tree up until I start to garden...
