We had a fair weekly Food Bank pick-up this morning from the allotment complex. The five blue crates on the foreground are what we collected. We parked them on the table and volunteers of the food bank take them into the walk-in cooler. You can see the partially filled crates on the background. More stuff will be added tomorrow morning before distribution, such as meats, bread, veg/fruit and dairy products.

But the reason for posting this piccy is to show how many beans we and donors are giving this year. Have you guys been getting larger bean harvests than usual?

    Someone even gave a pumpkin!

That is really awesome that you give to the food bank like this! I like that its a variety of 'fresh' items. Very nice.

Sjoerd, it seems the allotmenteers' green thumbs go straight to their hearts! What a generous and thoughtful donation to the food pantry. Good for you all (or as a valued member says, "Chapeau").

    Chers LL.
These are tough times financially for everyone, but for FB recipients it is a below minimum situation. Food is a basic thing in life, and while they get some tinned food, it is healthy if they can get fresh fruit and veg as a supplement as well.

Ahhh, thank you so much, Jane.
Are you trying to make my eyes go all moist?
I am always so appreciative of my fellow member’s donations and feel a sort of pride that I garden with some folks that think of others. We always tell our members that we want stuff they have too much of, so it is clear that we are not asking for food that they would otherwise feed themselves and their families with.

But what a bean haul !
