I found this information at about.com Barb. "In landscaping, elephant ears are grown for their large, heart-shaped leaves. While these leaves can reach 3' long and 2' wide in the tropics, in the north they will remain smaller -- but still impressive. Elephant ear plants can grow 8' tall in the tropics; in the north, a height of 2'-3' is more common (depending on growing conditions)."
That realy is a beautiful plant. My elephant ears froze last winter.I hate that as I had about 5 different types.
I love them and we have tried and tried to grow them in our conservatory, but they just don't do it and whither and die. Good luck - I am very envious.
Thanks glenda, an Ej, I bought it last fall id did nothing for a few months in part shade. This spring I put it in a east sunny window upstairs an it took off. I was shocked. All I did was water. Never seen one before. But it really is like glenda said . Very pretty. Lots of character. b
