The *&^%blower has moved to the front of the toolshed and the lawnmower is sulking in the shadows of the back. It is ready to tackle the white stuff. Right now photons from the sun are making the flakes disappear from the lawn.

Throw another log on the fire Captain, stay warm.

The pellet stove is keeping my living room at 76 degrees....our furnace is not on for the day.

Going out to get eggs every few hours so they don't freeze..

This deep freeze is just to much to handle this early in the year. Thank the Lord we did not get any snow. Calgon take me away to somewhere warmer. I guess it would have to be Hawaii before one avoided the cold weather. I'm packing my bags. :stew1:

It's a nice day here. A little cool at -1°C (about 30°F) but the sun is shining. I went for a lovely walk with the dog a while ago, and now I feel ready to do some housework. 126 days until spring!

I know it doesn't seem like much to you folks up north, but we had our first freeze last night--ice on the wild bird watering stations, green beans are done as are the tomatoes and peppers, and we had to turn on the furnace! This cold is really early for us--we usually don't get a frost until Thanksgiving, much less a real freeze. Hoping this isn't a harbinger of what is to come.

Could be colder, but then that's just me. We have had a couple of nights around 30 deg but just a glancing blow, not long enough for anything to freeze. First freeze here is typically around the middle of November so this is pretty much weather as usual.

In 1993 we had almost a half inch of ice on Thanksgiving day. Our first freeze that year happened on Oct 30th.

And by Thursday of next week the temps should be pushing 70 again. :'(

It was down to 6 degrees yesterday with a strong wind blowing the snow in drifts. On the level we've got about 4 inches of the white stuff and it is still snowing today but the temp. is 35 degrees. The storm is suppose to hang around for another 36 hours and temps in the minus. Brrr!

Cold as a well digger's butt here. Need to get the birds feeders filled and the suet stations up. I spend all week outside, I think I'll stay in a bit longer.

A bit too early for this winter nonsense huh?
We have been setting new records for low temperatures, and the wind has been bitterly cold. It came like a cold slap in the face after all the mild, warm days we were having.
