hello, i have a question about my brussel sprouts. I know now that i planted them at the wrong time of the year but I am new at gardening. Live and learn I guess.

My problem is that they are growing ok, but inside the fruit (?) itself there is a black powdery substance that I am having a problem identifying. I would like to know that if I peel off infected leaves and cook only the center if they would be acceptable to eat. The powdery stuff is only in the first few layers and not all the way to the middle. Can anyone help?

Hi there, welcome to GardenStew :)

Sounds like your sprouts have downy mildew. I wouldn't eat them in this case.
