It must be fall here in Michigan. I walked around the corner of the garage this afternoon and discovered that the burning bush has definately started to change colors. We almost lost this beauty to rabbits a couple of winters ago - I am sure glad it survived.
Beautiful polly!!! My Virginia creeper is just beginning to turn red too - so it must be autumn here as well.
No, they don't grow in Louisiana. All those lovely plants that I grew up with just wilt in our heat. Of course, my parents can't have bananas or giant birds or all the tropical plants I have grown to love.
It has become adapted to Texas conditions, I think I will look for one next spring....that is gorgeous.
That bush reminds me of of my Aunts house plant I can't remember if it was a Blue bird or Redbird Plant. When it bloomes the blooms looked like a little bird.
Richard, you are a little bit north of me on the northshore of NO, aren't you? You could try it. Even as a cool season annual it might be worth it. Let me know after you paid a bundle to buy it. Or you could try this: Empty a tray of ice cubes at the base of the shrub every morning. Works for lilacs...really! But I'm too lazy for that.
I have four burning bushes and all are turning red. Some of the trees here are starting to turn also. Wannabe
If you find one let me know .I don't know if the Burning Bush will grow in Texas but Polly's is just so beautiful.
