What a cool little flower it has! I just bought one, and I can not wait to see what it will doing during spring time! I got this beast for $12! It's over 5 feet tall! I just love to share pictures of new plants that I get.

    Happy Gardening!

I found one of these earlier this year. The flowers are the ultimate "cute"! And Bumble Bees just love it. And it flowered all summer. Actually I think it's last bloom fell off over the weekend.

Did you have a freeze? It seem a little early for them to stop blooming. If they attract bumblebees too, them that's awesome!

    Happy Gardening!

I think this is such a cool little flower. How large does it get? and how hardy is it?

We had a slight frost a few weeks ago. And we've been slowly getting cooler and cooler. Tonight it's supposed to get down to 38F.
I have no complaints from the plant. It was just probably 1 foot tall when I bought it. It is now around 6 foot tall and has bloomed constantly all year.
So... if it's done for the year... it's okay with me. :-D
As long as it comes back big and strong in the spring.

I've got several butterfly bushes in pink, blue, and white colors. I've had them for many years and they get huge. Wherever you plant them, if you don't prune them back they'll easily get to 10 ft. tall. The big ones do look cool when they're covered in butterfies, though. I'll see if I can find a picture of mine and post it.

carolyn keiper, they can get about 10 feet tall, and roots are hardy to maybe about 15F.

Dustin we've had temperatures down to -20C over the last few years. This year they're predicting -19C ( a heat wave then no doubt.) It's the severe frosts that tend to kill off many of our garden plants. :(

Well, not butterflies this time of year. The bushes have started going into winter mode, but here's a picture of mine from a couple years ago. I had to cut them down to the ground after a hurricane damaged them a few years back, but they grew right back to their original size in no time.

John, I think the Clerodendrum ugandense is a totally different "butterfly bush" than yours, which seems to be a Buddleia davidii.
Correct me if I'm wrong please.
The Buddleia attracts butterflies, while the Clerodendrum looks like butterflies (I actually never saw one butterfly pay attention to it all year... just the bees).
