While I was waiting for my Gazania to open up, I saw this butterfly fluttering in the slow breeze. So I caught it - With the camera I mean, I didn't actually harm it in any way.

It's hard for me to believe that you have butterflies in your garden at this time of year!! I'll have to wait for ages before any appear again here.
    Lovely shots S-H. :-D

Look like a Painted Lady Butterfly. They are very pretty. Lucky you to have them in December.

Heaven, to have butterflies! Thank you for sharing this colourful specimen, I needed the colour boost today. I'll trade you for a lot of white. :D

It is so beautiful....thank you for sharing. It will be a long time again before we have a butterfly here. We did have a little warm up and a lot of snow melted so we have plenty of room for more... :-D

It's not always easy taking a picture of a butterfly. As they are shy insects who hardly ever stay still for long. But I was lucky this time.

    I think it's a Common Mormon Black.
But I'm no expert by any standard.
So don't take my word for it.
