Butterfly (or is it a moth!) I.D.?

    This butterfly?/moth? came to visit me at work today. I have never seen one like this in Newfoundland before, I joined the forum just to find out what it is!

    I'm pretty sure your butterfly is a Camberwell Beauty(Nymphalis antiopa.) In North American it is known as the Mourning Cloak. This butterfly is widespead in the northern hemisphere.

    Yes correct,and it is also the State butterfly of Montana.
