Cactus, green bottom, yellow top.

    Hello. Can you help me to identify this cactus? I guess it is grafted cactus aka moon cactus, but I might be wrong. I heard they are very short lived, is that true? Also, do they bloom (if yes, how often)? Thank you very much.

    I have seen those in stores over the years and wondered about them. From the information I gathered, they are grafted and usually the bottom part is a Hylocereus or some other jungle cactus. The top parts are mutant cultivars of Gymnocalycium mihanovichii that can not live without being grafted to another cactus.

    They only live a few years, generally less than 5 from what I found. There was one site that said you should slowly lengthen the time between water so they can go dormant during the winter then they will or might bloom in spring.

    I had one of those years ago. Yes... they are grafted. That's about all I know about them.
