Can you help name this fragrant,, blossoming, 2 metre high plant please?

    We inherited this plant in 1979. It has stood in several in-house locations. Suddenly, after all these years, it flowered this week for the first time. The scent starts early evening and is strong and sweet-smelling. It continues to give out its perfume all night. Sorry but every attempt to upload a tiny picture fails due to space...

    Arthur if you're still having trouble posting a picture for us then could you describe the plant? What shape are the leaves? What colour are the flowers? Do they grow in clusters or are they individual? Is the plants stem woody? Anything you can think of to help us ID it for you would be helpful.

    It sounds like it may be a "corn plant," Dracaena fragrans.
