My husband has been busy in the workshop, melting beeswax, pouring it into molds, waiting for it to cool, and unmolding the six inch and 10 inch candles. We have enough candles to last us for at least two years, and we'll be enjoying their soft light and delightful scent when snuffed.

There's nothing better than the scent of hot beeswax is there? It's a long time since I made candles but my neighbour has bees and I can smell when he's making them. It won't be long now until we get our Christmas dozen from him.:stew2:

Mart, the boxes came from my "stash" in the pantry. I can't bring myself to throw out a good box. "This will come in handy some day!:setf_040:" We don't sell them, having plans to use each and every one ourselves.
Sjoerd, "we" didn't make the candles--husband did. I just made nutritious meals to keep his strength up!
Eileen, you neighbor is very generous in giving a dozen beeswax candles. They will have two benefits--the lovely smell, and the lovely thoughts about your neighbor.

I see what you mean, my Bride reminded me of the old cliché as I read.
What you could do though is to put a candle in the window when he’ s a- comin’ home.
Well, oké then Jane ,so he made them, but I think that he’d agree that no-one can hold a candle to you.

Sjoerd, as we are wont to say here in Texas, aw shucks (blushing). A bit later I'll post a photo of our house, with a candle (electric) in each front window. That just seems to fit the Christmas spirit.

Lovely candles made by a Texas candlemaker…. It’s really tough to find candles made with bees wax . Any scented?
Can’t wait to see pics of your home all lit up .

    Excellent candles :)

I carved and fitted a double candle window some years back. Before street lights these were quite common in village houses so folk could find their way in the dark.

Excuse picture quality, they're copies of prints.

I did all the repointing on the cottage too :)

Righto Ziggedy - if you can do clever stuff like that, you can make a nice candle window for me..... I shall talk to my friend Jane to supply some lovely candles to finish the job as well.[IMG]
