This is my first year for seeing the cat bird here at the lake. He has a darker patch on top of his head and a reddish brown spot under the tail area. At times he sounds like a cat or crying baby to me. He does love his grape jelly...

You learn something new every day, never knew such a bird existed!

    Thanks for the education Sherry!

Neither did I Frank. Isn't it interesting to see species from other countries?

We are training our small dogs to chase black birds off of the orioles jelly...they can empty a small dish in less than an hour. At first we were saying Get the Birdie...that did not work because we have a cat named Birdie...so we say get the black bird and it seems to be sinking in. we are on the porch and the dogs are fenced in so no birds are hurt. The black birds get plenty of jelly when we aren't sitting out there. The funny thing is when they see the cat bird, they don't even run towards them. same goes for the orioles, house finches, etc. I have been going through a container every 2 days.
