Our chaste tree is in full bloom. It is a vitex actually, but more on its common name later. It is an actual tree, not a shrub. Now, about that common name--it seems that the young priest/missionaries drank a tea made from its leaves to help them keep their vows of chastity. That must have been a very potent tea!
Adore the small chaste tree in your pic . It is just a beautiful specimen and lived up to it’s common name. Known in my garden as ( Vitex agnus-castus ) and used for medicinal, culinary and religious purposes and herbal / precious oil remedy. To treat my horse an animal herabilist used the chaste tree roots crushed to regulate the pituitary glad .
Sjoerd, no scent, but the chaste tree does come in pink and white ones, in addition to the blue. Pacnorwest, I had no idea there were other herbal uses for any part of the tree other than the leaves.
Thanks Marlin— i think the tree looks really nice, and I can imagine it in different colours. Thanks again for your answer.
