We were just thinking of going somewhere and our friend suggested China. She is already booked on a package tour with her sister and told us to join them. China! we thought for a quick while and decided yeah, why not.

We left home after dinner on Christmas day to catch the bus to the airport to make it in time meet up with the rest of the group for check in at 3:00am the next morning.

We arrived at the airport at just a little past mid-night and headed to MacDonald for a cuppa and free wi-fi.

Soon it was check in time and the usual this and that and finally arrived at our destination by late morning.

The food came quickly and gone as quickly, it was the survival of the fastest. Anyway the food was just normal Chinese style everyday food. Maybe it was our first meal after such a long journey and it tasted OK.

Our first tourist stop isYaoshan Mountain. To get to the peak we can either walk which might take a whole day or take a cable chair ride which is about 25 minutes.

The wishing tree: are the red strips pieces of paper with wishes written on them? Do you know how long they remain on the tree?

What a great trip that was.
You have some good pics of all the important high points of the trip.
The view from atop the mountain is striking....and that interesting-looking sundail. on your website. Actually there were many more interesting things to see on your website. I enjoyed this thread and your website gallery.
    Thanks for the posting, mate.

Thank you Philip, glad you are enjoying it.
Sad to say that every meal is like a competition even though it was not yummy and enough to go around. The food is just too oily and meat is very little. The veggies are tasty but swimming in oil.

The dishes looked good,..but as they say ' the proof of the pudding is in the eating',..shame about the lack of meat and the oily addition as i know by now how you relish your food.

I fully agreed with you like for example the very famous Beer Fish which we had for almost every meal in different restaurants and I did not find anything special about it except that it is drowned in oil.

Beer Fish,..something i never came across before,..it states that its known all over the world and has no fishy smell that its crispy and tasty,..sounds good but as you mentioned nothing special,..have you come across 'Bombay Duck',..i never could figure why its called that as in fact its a fish dish,..served here.

Bombay Duck? ... no never knew such a thing existed. Googled it and the how it got its name sounds complicated. We do get it in the market once in a while but it is known by another name which is quite difficult to explain. Here we deep fry or cook in mung bean/glass noodles soup and it is yummy :)

Another duck that is not a duck that I like is Geoduck. I like it raw or just a quick blanch in chicken stock.
