Sunday I put the marzipan on the Christmas cake Today put the royal icing on, it's not perfect but that's how it goes, it's on top of a bowl so I can turn it.
Very nice Logan, we don't bother with cake which is good - Zigs doesn't like it and the calories would just about do me in. Don't let the dogs near it will you - there are some foods, as I'm quite sure you know (others may not) that are dangerous for dogs. https://www.battersea.org.uk/pet-ad...jObiI2IWwuYLJnEtATQR3Y1cJxNfJDpwaApZAEALw_wcB
Thanks @Zigs and @Tetters yes I know about the dried fruit is poisonous to dogs but thanks. It's well away from the boys.
Logan, what do you mean "it's not perfect"? Anything that tastes good and makes part of the holiday celebration, is perfect!
Thanks Marlingardener, it just doesn't look perfect, but that's fine by me. As you say it still taste's good.
I put so much icing on it that it doesn't stay on the sides, it starts to slide down. @Tetters not every one likes Christmas cake or the pudding. I put so much sherry in the cake that we can't eat a lot at a time, we have a small slice between us so it will last a long time. We don't start on it until the first day of the new year, because we like to finish off the chocolate gateaux and the Yule log, but I don't make those, they're easier to buy.
Thanks but we don't eat as much these days at Christmas. Used to have turkey sandwiches for tea but it's too much with the gateaux so the sandwiches had to go.
Nor do we. I have had too many uncomfortable holidays in the past. Chuckle. Now we eat far less with the holidays. Good thing too.
Loggie, I have to have chocolate in some form daily...I prefer dark chocolate.we are having our afternoon tea at the moment, and the choccy chip cookies with it.
Sjoerd I hope that you enjoyed your cookies. Yes we have a square of 72% dark chocolate every day, but I could eat half a bar of it, but I won't.
