Chunk was on a tree getting corn from the squirrel feeder when a Red Tailed Hawk landed in the same tree. He kept eyeing Chunk but he wouldn't move. I guess the Hawk figured he couldn't get him, so after 15 minutes he flew off. But I was able to get a bunch of pictures of him before he left.

Unless that hawk is fluffed up against the cold he looks chubby enough to have had a few of Chunk's friends already. I hope Chunk is very careful in the future.

I'm glad the hawk didn't get Chunk for dinner!
Just yesterday, we watched a Red Tail in the neighbor's tree for quite a while. The birds all flew off, or got very still... waiting... but he didn't get his dinner either.

Back in early Nov. I watched a hawk snag a squirrel right out of a tree. But he was about half way up it. Chunk was only about 3 ft off the ground.

Nice shot Capt. We've got Hawks here too, a few different types. I hate it when they hunt my little feathered friends at the feeders. So far they have stayed away...there are still tons of mice in the fields.

Good shot of your Red Tailed Hawk CK. It looks as though it may have already eaten. Lucky for little Chunk who still lives to tell the tale. :-D

I'm not even sure that the stupid squirrel even knew he was being watched.

That big hawk looks formitable. I think that Chunk had a lucky day...the hawk may be back.
