Well, I got up, dusted off my umbrella, and went out into the RAIN! We have had 1 1/8"; the rain barrels are full; and the hens are trying to remember what that wet stuff is (haven't seen any since June).
We may get more today, and some is predicted for tomorrow. The lettuce and Swiss chard are coming up, and I swear the broccoli has doubled in size since I planted it Friday.
Gray skies, smiling at me, nothing but gray skies do I see!

We have some rain, too. It didn't start until mid-morning but it started hard and slowed down to a soaker all day. It's just misting now. I hope it keeps up for a week but it says it will taper off tomorrow and just be partly cloudy the rest of the week. Isn't rain great?

Hubby washed the truck this morning. I immediately said, "why are you wasting water?" He said, "two reasons. One you're not going to drive Aunt Anna to Aunt Rita's birthday party in a dirty truck. Two... maybe it'll bring the rain here."
Well... it worked. The party was about 45 minutes south of home in Baytown and we were caught in some nice downpours on the drive back. I checked the rain gauge and it was at 1/8th of an inch, but it's been a steady drizzle for awhile now. I'll take whatever we can get!
And so glad that other places in "thirsty" Texas got rain too!

It was wet all day and night but just steady, not hard and it soaked into the ground. I think my garden grew half an inch. I need to think about thinning them out. I usually wait until they are a couple inches so I can use them in salads when I thin them. I won't have to water for a few days, maybe. Depends on the sun and temps.
