Last year the hummingbirds left September 18. I walked through the gardens taking photos this morning. I heard them so they are still here today. Ageratum. The hardy mums from last Fall. Thoroughwort. Autumn Joy Sedum I started from cuttings last year. Bronze mums. Rose of Sharon still blooming. Dalhlia. Gladolus. More Evening Sun sunflowers. If I want to save seeds of the sunflowers, I have to put tulle or something like that over them. The birds don't play fair. They eat the seeds when they are still "green".
It's always very nice to see Fall flowers. I actually had none until I saw everyone here posting pictures last Fall. I ran out and bought as much as I could find to get blooms this Fall. It worked I have tons of flowers in "waretrop land" this year. See, that's the kind of thing we learn from living at Gardenstew. Great pics donm....
Looking very good there! I plant a couple Sedum Autumn Joys this year.. I like the looks of them. I need to get more. And my attempt to grow sunflowers this year failed miserably. Next year... fresh seeds!
Very nice shots Don. I quite enjoyed scrolling up and down looking at your fall flowers. You had a good season, didn't you mate.
Beautiful flowers. I can see now that I need to add ageratum and sun flowers to my garden next year. Cherylad, if your Autumn Joy grows like mine does you'll be able to divide yours before long. I started with ones small one 3 years ago and I now have 3 nice size clumps and will divide the largest one again in the spring. They are beautiful but if I let mine too large they start flopping.
