I've been outside between the showers to get up-close and personal with some of our blooms. Which is it, do you know? Some were busy out there too:
Okay, I'll play. I don't know the first 2, but the third is golden sedum. The fourth is a rose. The fifth is a balloonflower. Sixth is a gloriosa lily and the seventh is foxglove. How'd I do?
I agree with Jakrum; They are exceptional. What other way is there to enjoy blooms than up close and personal? Thanks Droopy. Gardengater (Carol)
You were right on three and seven. Maybe you should try a bit more? They're all fairly common around here.
O-O-Oh! I know the next to last one,, i have them too! In dark purple, pink, white, blue and red. but i don't know what their called,,,,sigh. Is that close enough,,,,lol. Wait,,,,I just had a red hair moment there, its the Agua- something, or as Toni called Colombine.
no. 1, not sure..... no. 2, poppy no. 3, sedum no. 4, rock rose maybe.... no. 5, delphinium no. 6, lily no. 7, foxglove??
EJ, you're very good. 1 is Viola cornuta, a small viola. No. 4 is a potentilla, they grow in almost every garden around here, but mostly yellow ones. The poppy: The Sedum: Delphinium: The Martagon lily: The foxgloves: I think I forgot to photograph the whole Viola, sorry.
Oh to funny! I am running a game on a couple of forums where i post a very close up of a plant or flower and players guess what they are! I love the color of that poppy!
I love the color on that poppy as well. They are all very beautiful. I'm also partial to the Delphinium. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks all, those flowers are tough since they bloom despite the chilly wetness. The white poppy is "Perry's White", we've had it for a couple of years now. Thank you. No, they manage to grow and bloom in neglected borders in very old gardens. They can take being mowed over and will still come back. They won't look good unless they get some care, of course, but they are really hardy lilies. I think they take USDA zones 3 through 10. Common English name is Common Turk's Cap Lily. We got ours from a very neglected yard.
These flowers are so nice to look at. I got on here too late to play, but I am still admiring them. You have some spectacular flowers there, Droopy...and I really enjoy seeing them.
