Last year on our first trip to that big junk yard down south of here, I bought to baby bed springs....this is the trellis we made from them. I love the Dr. Seuss look of it. trellis from bed parts ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I know it's kinda hard to see them at this angle but they are on either side of the path attached to long pieces of rebar, then we added some long bamboo poles for more height and across the top. We obviously gave up trying to get everything perfectly even, this has more personality anyway.
I think it looks great especially as it came free. Much better than spending out on one made in factory that can be seen in lots of other peoples gardens. You have something that is totally unique!! :-D
Heavens, Toni, where other people see baby bed springs, you see a trellis! I love the ingenuity you show (and I am a bit envious, also.) Your trellis is perfect.
I have one baby bed spring in my veggie garden for things like tomatoes or cukes to climb upon... I have it attached to other stuff like chicken wire and latticework in a row for the veggies to climb. This year I planted my cukes on it. I moved my tomatoes to tubs.
