I had to travel by train to Galway City in January,..i had broken one of my cameras and lost another between Spain and Ireland,..imagine two cameras gone within a few months,..purchased a Canon PowerShot then headed down to part of Galway Harbor,..the part where Christopher Columbus set out from to discover America. A cold day,..with water flowing fast and high.
I found myself almost shivering when I saw those first photographs. I think Ireland has been having the same weather we've been experiencing of late. Philip Galway Harbour reminds me of Oban here in Scotland with it's colourful houses. I have a feeling that those gulls and swans are waiting for a free handout - can't blame them when it's so cold and blustery.
Hi Eileen,..Jan and Feb were very cold months,..from March 25th the temps went high,..well in my garden anyway from 70F up to 88F on the 20th of April,..its dropped since down to 58F on the 2nd of May but back up to 78F today and so i spent all day in the garden ================================================================================= Hi Frank,..its a very nice place and a lot more of it to be seen but for the nippy day that was in it,..there will be another day trip. ================================================================================= Thank you Sjoerd,..i know you like pictures,..those from another land are interesting.
That was some rough water!! I could hear your sea birds or maybe it was all in my head You did have some bad luck losing 2 cameras!!!
Hi Deanna,..nice to see you,..lol when you see them the memory clicks in and you recall the sound,..yep i had one Sony Camera that i took abroad with me and the second one was left at home so the dog sitter could take pictures of the garden and pets for me,..reversed the car over a bag containing the camera,..don't know where i lost the other one,..both were great cameras,..the new one was more expensive,..not as good as the old ones.
I enjoyed seeing Galway through your pictures. I especially like the colorful houses, boats (especially the bright green one, so cheerful looking on a dreary day) and, always, the birds.
Thank you Folks,..delighted you enjoyed those pictures,..i learned something on that day about Swans,..i never knew about the problem with feeding them Bread.
Feeding white bread is also said to be a contributing factor in the condition known as 'Angel wing.' If I ever visit where there are water birds (such as geese and swans) around I take a bag of corn with me. They love it and I don't have to worry that I'm doing them any harm.
Eileen that's something else i didn't know,..thanks for that info,..i will take some with me next time i am on the river
