I have looked and can not find any good gardening shows on any channel here in the USA. Oh there is one I found on HGTV but it is more of tearing a garden up and installing very expensive non-plant items. So I'm asking members from other countries (preferably English speaking) if there are any gardening shows. I may be able to pick some of them up some way or at least read them.
You are right, not much to choose from. I watch Yard Crashers and I Hate My Yard. Hgtv isn't much on garden shows anymore. I rarely watch it.
Here in the UK I've just been watching a series of programmes about the Chelsea Flower Show which is a BIG annual event. We also have a few other programmes on TV. 1. The big allotment challenge. 2. Love your garden. 3. Beechgrove garden. 4. Gardeners' world. We used to have quite a few more but they have decreased over the years although I don't understand why. I don't know if you can 'Google' them and perhaps watch them on your computer.
I think your best bet might be to actually check out some older gardening shows on YouTube. Since gardening information is pretty much timeless it doesn't matter about when they were broadcast. And the absolute best thing about them is that they are from a time when the most important thing was practical advice for your garden, not just superficial design tips. Here is a channel on YouTube. I would check out the Gardener's World playlist with episodes from the early 90's. www.youtube.com/user/GARDENINGvintageTV/playlists It's quite sad Eils, I agree. I think that reality TV has taken a huge bite out of broadcast time that would traditionally have been used for gardening shows. And when you consider the effect those programmes have on people's minds compared to something that would help to become closer to nature (and I would argue more centred), well let's just say that it's a giant shame.
Eileen, I tried one of the shows on your list and it's like Frank said, I found it on You tube. It was a Love Your Garden show and I really enjoyed it. Frank, I will look into the You tube site you posted later today. I do miss the ideas and information that they provided.
Yeah I think HGTV would be your best bet to find gardening tips. The shows on that channel are not necessary all about gardening, but many of the shows do contain great tips on landscaping and other tips for indoor/outdoor plants.
Growing a Greener World with Joe L'ample. The website name is the same as the program, just add .com I only get watch HGTV when we are out of town like this weekend and after three days of off/0n watching there has been NO gardening at all. Maybe their website is better but they should take the G out of HGTV.
They have a little bit, but it is all built into their other shows. Like the Fleamarket finds show, show how some of the repurpose items into garden potters or other items.
I miss all of the old gardening shows too. I do watch Victory Garden when I can find it. I used to like it when they would take you on tours to different gardens and you could see different styles and plants.
